Does anyone know if such a creature as the Denver Open exists? If so, anyone know when it is?

I don't know what they're doing now, haven't lived there in a while. I will just tell you that back in the '80's, maybe '87 or '88 they made a big push to get a Denver Open going. It was played at a bar on Federal by Mile High and they set up some tables and a viewing area. A lot of good players came, Buddy Hall, Earl Strickland, David Howard, Jose Parica, Hopkins I think, and several others. It was a big flop and I think some players had a hard time getting paid. it lasted one year. I did get to see Hall get tired of a local player when the score was 4-2 (hall, but the local player had won a game and the crowd was trying to encourage him) and Hall ran out the race to 11. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

A quick google makes it look like there hasn't been a Denver Open pool tournament since the late 90's.
