Kato - who is Hayseed Dixie? Never heard of them. 80's Glam Rock to me is like disco still a novelty. Although it hung around longer than I ever thought.

DG - still hates disco

Voodoo got me into 'em driving up to the 2002 Open. They do remakes of everything from ZZ Top, Snoop Dog, AC/DC ect. They've got dueling banjos, they're hilarious.

The legend is that they found an AC/DC record, never hearing of them before, liked the songs, and covered them with what would be typical of deep south bluegrass instruments.

Most anything by Bowser and Blue (http://www.bowserandblue.com/albums.htm). I specially like the "Ode to a Colorectal Surgeon."

I suppose most of Weird Al Yankovic's covers pretty much does it for me.

Amish Paradise might be my favorite.

My local radio station WAAF - Boston ( http://www.waaf.com ) has a "Looney Tune Tuesday" morning show. Much of the requests are commonly available novelty songs. Many of them are made in their studio by a very talented voice impersonator. Good stuff.

I also liked Amish Paradise cause the area where I live has a large Amish population. I used to work with them years ago and they aren't as holy and righteous as people think.

DG - could tell you good stories about the Amish

For all you Led Zeppelin fans, several years ago, there was a complilation cd called Stairways to Heaven. This was various versions of the song done by a Jim Morrison/Doors impersonator, Elvis impersonator, lounge act, etc. Absolutely a riot.

How about "I Like Jersey Best."

The Parkway is the dark way
home from Manasquan.
You'd think for all those quarters,
they'd turn the roadlights on.

I been a lot of places,
seen pictures of the rest,
but of all the places I can think of,
I like Jersey best!

you gotta be there, maybe /ccboard/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"Like a surgeon" by Weird Al was pretty good, especially the video, where he's writhing on a gurney ala Madonna dancing in the gondola. Too funny.

Christine Kane - Girls Like That /ccboard/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The woman on the TV set
is clutching both her great big breasts
And she sure looks like she is having fun
In purple plastic panties
she is writhing, she is dancing
And itís plain to see she really turns her on

And this is MTV you know
and that is how the music goes
And all the male guitarists think sheís great
And they believe that girls like this
actually do exist
And secretly we all love to gyrate

Well pardon me but I have never done
a thing I can remember
That remotely looks like this at all
Except for once at girl scout camp
when several bees got in my pants
And one of them flew in my training bra

Maybe these are fantasies
Maybe you have a right to these
Maybe Iíll just break this gently
Thereís no such thing as girls like that

The catalogs of lingerie
come to our houses every day
With women who have mostly nothing on
My favorite is the one who sits
and drinks her coffee in her kitchen
Wearing just a silk robe and a thong

Well letís be real here, letís just say
my kitchen any given day
Is not exactly somewhere you seduce
Between the cat hair and the crumbs,
your nakedness might make him numb
And even worse he might begin to puke

And if youíre gonna wear a thong
you might just find the cat hairís gone
To places you donít want cat hair to be
And besides you know the fact
a thong just rides right up your ass
And serves no earthly purpose I can see

Maybe these are fantasies
Maybe you have a right to these
Maybe Iíll just break this gently
Thereís no such thing as girls like that

Well lastly I will say to all
the boys who make the Barbie doll
That I think Barbieís really cute and fun
But if Barbie were a real live chick
her waist would be twelve inches thick
Her bra size would be close to 41

So by the age of 53
those things would be down to her knees
With osteoporosis on the way
So after having said all that
Iíll leave you with this simple fact
My favorite girls are women that
are not afraid to cry and laugh
And eat some food thatís high in fat
And change your oil; fix your flat
Can say some prayers and blaze a path
And Iíll just say on their behalf
Thereís no such thing as girls like
no such thing as girls like that.
