Full sized table with Simonis 860. I go for it as shown. What do you do? I might play safe if it was hill-hill. But what is a good safe from here?

I think the answer is on the previous shot you played. This is a horrible shape on the 8 for where the 9 is located.
The shot you are suggesting is probably the only way out, though it is a very tough shot. There is many traps there. When I find myself in a situation like this, I always looked back at where was my mistake on the previous shot.
I'm sure that wasn't the answer you were waiting for but, hey !
As for safety, maybe you want to skin the 8 to push it across to the other rail and bring the cue ball back at the head rail ??? Tough shot and requires the perfect timing.

If I remember it right it should be like this START(
%HU2D0%Ir8U2%Pg8Q9%Ur3J2%Vg6[2%Wg5Z6%XV4C9%[W3D6%\g5Q3%eC4b4
)END
Put some inside english on the right side and the CB will come farther than the pocket. You must be good with long shots with english in order to do this shot good...Im not so Im might be full of **** /ccboard/images/graemlins/smile.gif Il go try it tonight though. Good luck.
you can play this.
START(
%HU2D0%Ir8U2%Pg7P7%Un8N4%Vf7Y7%Wf0Y6%XV4C9%[W3D6%\g0P4%eA3b2
)END
you just have to hit it sweet.

I love your choice, Paul, but not necessarily from there. If the 8 were further up table, it makes sense. From where you have it though, it's just too easy to play it with low right, at a soft-to-medium speed. There's no risk of scratching.
I think you should reconsider your choice to play safe from here at hill-hill. You've got a perfectly legitimate chance to win the game, and the safe is at least as difficult as the shot.

If I was playing on a forgiving table I would hit it with low right and cross twice for the out but if I was playing on a Diamond Pro I would hit this chicken out safety:
START(
%HU2D0%Ir8U2%Pg7P7%Un8N4%Vf7Y7%WD2V0%XT8D5%YG5Z6%Z D0V6%[V8E2
%\g0P4%]c2D4%^H5[2%eB5`8%_s3N1%`m3J3%ad0D4
)END
It may look like a tough safety but is a natural track and good speed is all that is required; hit it a few times and you will see there is nothing special at all to pull this safety off. Make sure you have some top on the cb.

Paul Mon <hr /></blockquote>It seems like the way it's drawn, both of these options are available and doable on Simonis:
START(
%HU2D0%Ir8U2%Pg7P7%Uj7P0%Vb9Z3%Wa3Z3%XV4C9%[W3D6%\g0P4%eC1b3
)END
and

%\g0P4%eA7a0
)END
The second one is not only doable, but I shot virtually the same shot against you playing 8-ball in PA. a few years ago.

I like that safety. You didn't show the final cue ball position but I must assume that you want it up table preferably on the same side as the 9 ball.

Definitely. If the nine were in the center of the head rail, it would be a lot more difficult.
The safeties from here are more difficult than the shot.
Chris
I might do the same Cheese for the same reasons. It really depends on whom I'm playing and table conditions. The three rail is a golf shot with the exception you might want to make it or leave it close and leave the c/b on the end rail as you said. It comes up in one pocket too.

how do u view that? i've never really asked....
all I see are symbols and punctuations.
Steve,
You highlight and copy the code. Then you go to the wei table and click the green paste button. Wei table (http://endeavor.med.nyu.edu/%7Ewei/pool/pooltable2.html)
You can set up a shot there, click the red copy button and paste the code here if you like.
