View Full Version : Choices on the 9, which one should I choose?

Since my difficult cuts (difficult for me) are at 50%-60%, I would probably take option two the long bank.Long banks are pretty good for me but not 80% or anything. I could not draw the bank exact since I do those by feel, but is just a general picture of it.Might even look incorrect,do these by looking at the angle and flying on instinct.
Also am wondering in the case of a miss, which one would leave my opponent the worst. If this was hill hill, unless, you know that feeling, the ball is in the pocket, in that case would take the cut instead of the bank unless the leave would be worse if I missed.

I would definitley cut that shot every time...being more confident in cut shots than bank shots. Lots of determining factors on banks, whereas cuts just have to be shot in the middle of the pocket. But I would make sure if I happened to miss it would be on the overcut side to at least leave this shot for the opponent.
I would go for the cut shot. I don't bank real well and if I missed that would leave an easy shot for my opponent. I on average cut short, so I would shoot pretty firm, and if I missed, I think I have a better chance at a tough leave than a bank shot.
My experiences say to cut the ball. If you can cut a ball and use the rails to maintain position, cut the ball. Even though banks look cool, and can be fairly easy, banks are ment as a last resort.
Definitely cut it. The bank is a much lower percentage shot.IMO

Thanks everyone. I know I need to work on these. After six weeks away from pool except maybe once a week, when I went home, had gotten a little rusty on these shots. Just starting to get things back but banking way better. I just love to bank but that is no reason to choose that shot. /ccboard/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Cut shot all the way.
Wouldn't even want to think of missing it ... but if I was feeling at all shaky, I guess I might console myself by reflecting that if I hit it at the speed to bring cb back to the head rail, and go for the left half of the pocket, the 9 would end up near the middle of the foot rail if I dogged it.
