Is This The Most Embarrassing Interview Fox News Has Ever Done?

Reza Aslan, a religious scholar with a Ph.D. in the sociology of religions from the University of California and author of the new book, “Zealot: The Life and Times of Jesus of Nazareth,” went on FoxNews.com’s online show Spirited Debate to promote his book only to be prodded about why a Muslim would write a historical book about Jesus.

BTW, Here's some information on Mr. Aslan from Wikipedia:

Islam is very respectful of Jesus, whom they consider a very high ranking prophet of God. They believe in his virgin birth, his miracles, his bodily ascension into heaven, and also say that he will sit at the right hand of God on judgment day to judge the quick (the living) and the dead. No true believer of Islam would mention his name without the formality 'peace be unto him' (PBUH) which is reserved for persons highly regarded by Islam. The contrast of Orthodox Judaism's despising of Jesus with the reverence of Jesus by Islam is striking, although something that the Talmudists have well hidden (using other names for Jesus), and falsely denied for centuries to the world, for their quite legitimate concern for additional persecution by the dominant Christian world.

I don't blame this under-qualified woman particularly, as surely she was reading off talking points provided by the producer(s) of her show, and the piece was supposed to be a debate or hot topic conflict. Of course, Fox wanted to toe the line of the right wing conservative religious backlash to the book. Unfortunately, for informing the public, this approach meant nothing of substance was discussed, and she concentrated on the unfair criticisms one might expect from those quarters.
