40th Time’s A Charm? Insane GOP Decides to Waste More of Our Money Attacking Obamacare
July 27, 2013
For a Congress that is on pace to become the least productive Congress ever, you’d think they would try to get something done before they take most of August and September off. But no, guess what the Republican-run House of Representatives is going for? A 40th vote against the Affordable Care Act, aka “Obamacare.” While this isn’t a full repeal bill in the vein of many failed attempts before, like the GOP’s assault on women’s health and voting rights, it chips away at the foundations of a law in order to bring the whole thing down. Knowing that they have zero chance of repealing the law so long as President Obama is in office, they’ve decided instead to try to saw off the legs of the proverbial table. The President is smart enough to realize that is their game plan, especially when it is the same play that they’ve run over and over again.
Just imagine if Speaker Boehner, his backstabbing sidekick Eric Cantor and band of Koch-funded henchmen had put this much effort into putting America back to work? What if Congress had put just a mere fraction of the time they’ve wasted on the countless repeal votes into passing a budget that actually made sense, or passing a spending measure to pay for much needed repairs to our crumbling roads and bridges? But no, it’s been an endless partisan cycle of trying to repeal Obamacare, holding hearings on the cooked up scandal du jour, taking another vacation — rinse, wash, repeat.
As the saying goes, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Nothing could be more true for the House of Representatives in this 113th Congress. They know that no matter how many times they send one of their doomed repeal measures or one of Paul Ryan’s Ayn Rand inspired dystopian budgets to the Senate, it is dead on arrival. So why keep doing it over and over again, wasting time and millions of taxpayer dollars in the process? It’s because they just don’t care. They don’t care about fiscal responsibility, they don’t care about bipartisanship and they sure don’t care about doing what’s good for the country.
In addition to that, just take a quick gander at the absurdities that have been coming out of their mouths. There’s Rep. Steve King’s remarks about the size of an immigrants legs due to smuggling marijuana or Rep. Michael Burgess’ comments about fetuses pleasuring themselves. Then of course we had the aspersions cast upon Rep. Louie Gohmert’s asparagus, and Sen. Rand Paul’s assertion that gay marriage could lead to bestiality. And that’s just barely touching the tip of the iceberg. It is quite clear that not only is Congress the least productive in history, a good chunk of them are also certifiably insane.
(BTW: So far, the GOP has wasted $60,000,000 on this insane pursuit. How's that for "fiscally responsible" Republicans?)
There is no stupider creature on earth than a poor Republican. Such a person would stand in line to be sodomized and then thank their assailant afterward.
