For a Congress that is on pace to become the least productive Congress ever, youíd think they would try to get something done before they take most of August and September off. But no, guess what the Republican-run House of Representatives is going for? A 40th vote against the Affordable Care Act, aka ďObamacare.Ē While this isnít a full repeal bill in the vein of many failed attempts before, like the GOPís assault on womenís health and voting rights, it chips away at the foundations of a law in order to bring the whole thing down. Knowing that they have zero chance of repealing the law so long as President Obama is in office, theyíve decided instead to try to saw off the legs of the proverbial table. The President is smart enough to realize that is their game plan, especially when it is the same play that theyíve run over and over again.

Just imagine if Speaker Boehner, his backstabbing sidekick Eric Cantor and band of Koch-funded henchmen had put this much effort into putting America back to work? What if Congress had put just a mere fraction of the time theyíve wasted on the countless repeal votes into passing a budget that actually made sense, or passing a spending measure to pay for much needed repairs to our crumbling roads and bridges? But no, itís been an endless partisan cycle of trying to repeal Obamacare, holding hearings on the cooked up scandal du jour, taking another vacation ó rinse, wash, repeat.

As the saying goes, ďThe definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.Ē Nothing could be more true for the House of Representatives in this 113th Congress. They know that no matter how many times they send one of their doomed repeal measures or one of Paul Ryanís Ayn Rand inspired dystopian budgets to the Senate, it is dead on arrival. So why keep doing it over and over again, wasting time and millions of taxpayer dollars in the process? Itís because they just donít care. They donít care about fiscal responsibility, they donít care about bipartisanship and they sure donít care about doing whatís good for the country.

In addition to that, just take a quick gander at the absurdities that have been coming out of their mouths. Thereís Rep. Steve Kingís remarks about the size of an immigrants legs due to smuggling marijuana or Rep. Michael Burgessí comments about fetuses pleasuring themselves. Then of course we had the aspersions cast upon Rep. Louie Gohmertís asparagus, and Sen. Rand Paulís assertion that gay marriage could lead to bestiality. And thatís just barely touching the tip of the iceberg. It is quite clear that not only is Congress the least productive in history, a good chunk of them are also certifiably insane.

(BTW: So far, the GOP has wasted $60,000,000 on this insane pursuit. How's that for "fiscally responsible" Republicans?)
