Delusional Conservative Says ‘Family Guy’ Cartoon Is Causing Republicans To Lose Elections (VIDEO)
AUTHOR: STEPHEN D. FOSTER JR. August 2, 2013

If ‘Family Guy’ is really to blame for the GOP’s increasing unpopularity, that’s one more reason to love ‘Family Guy!’

Unable to take responsibility for their own shortcomings and terrible policy positions, a conservative speaker is blaming a cartoon show as the real reason why the GOP has been losing elections.During the RightOnline Conference in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, conservative television editor and writer Bill Whittle ignored the fact that Americans oppose much of what the Republican Party now stands for and blamed the cartoon series ‘Family Guy’for why people have been voting overwhelmingly against Republican candidates.

“Any audience of people that grew up with classical Superman automatically love this country because Superman is about the best America we can be, and when Superman was all over the pop culture we were a nation that loved this country,” Whittle said. “Now, 20 years after the peak of Superman’s popularity along comes Gilligan’s Island. That’s pretty neutral in terms of politics. Really about the only message you can get from Gilligan’s Island is if you want to get off the island all you have to do is kill Gilligan. But if you’re a young person out there today and you can finish the theme song from Family Guy, then all the anti-American, anti-capitalist, anti-Christian, anti-morality messages of Family Guy are in your head as completely and thoroughly as that theme song is… You’re programmed by the pop culture. You’re programmed by the story. It’s all about stories, and if we’re the villain in all of the stories that are told we’re never going to win another election again.”

    Here’s the video:

Translation: There aren’t enough shows on television brainwashing people into believing as conservatives do and the only reason Americans aren’t voting for conservative political views and candidates is because of a single cartoon aired ironically by Fox.

Seriously? Your party loses two huge Presidential elections and the only excuse you can muster as a reason for the defeats is that voters watch a certain cartoon? Not only is that insulting to the intelligence of voters, it’s just ridiculous.

The GOP has not been losing over the last few years because of a cartoon. They’ve been losing because of their horrible policy positions and their refusal to change them. They won’t even budge a tiny bit, which is why the Republican Party is being abandoned by women, Latinos, African-Americans, and young people in droves. Republicans have largely ignored their voices and have stubbornly pursued policies most sane people oppose. Instead of actually giving a damn about women’s reproductive health, the GOP would rather spend its time making contraception and abortion services inaccessible. Instead of passing comprehensive immigration reform and reaching out to Latinos, the GOP has passed “papers, please” laws, laws that discourage Latinos from living in conservative states, and talk about Latinos as if they aren’t real Americans whether they were born here or not. And let’s not forget millennial voters aged 18-30 who disagree with Republicans on a multitude of issues ranging from same-sex marriage to war to the minimum wage to women’s reproductive rights. In fact, the only group who seem to love conservatives right now are old white men.

Conservatives blaming ‘Family Guy’ for their own failures is like liberals blaming ‘Swamp Loggers’ or Larry The Cable Guy for theirs. The fact is, television shows attempt to appeal to a wide range of audiences. But audiences aren’t likely to watch programs that praise racism, homophobia, and hating women, therefore aren’t likely to remain on the air long if they make it at all. That’s because studios would alienate most of the population if they made such a program. It just wouldn’t survive, because viewers would change channels just like voters are switching political parties.

Unfortunately, this story is not something written by the Onion. It actually happened. There’s a reason why Republicans aren’t appealing to Americans right now, and it’s not because Hollywood is making conservatives the evil villains. It’s because conservatives are making themselves the villains. That, plus the fact that they are ignoring reality, which Bill Whittle delightfully demonstrated for us all.

Usually Bill Whittle's stuff is higher production value, and his bs seems to cohere together a bit better. No less wrong, mind you, just far more credible SOUNDING.

I suppose if he'd put this into a video it would indeed sound more coherent. He's reasonable sounding in his vids.

Anyway, we all know that the old Al Bundy show, Married with Children, is what doomed our society. Which goes back a bit longer ago than Family Guy.
