Billionaire leaves Gov. Rick Scott's re-election campaign after racist incident

You can't tell, but Rick Scott is sad now.

Now here's a sentence a candidate and/or current governor and/or conspicuously creepy mechanical lizard puppet never wants to hear.

On late Thursday, billionaire Mike Fernandez abruptly resigned his post as the finance co-chair of Governor Rick Scott’s (R-FL) reelection campaign.

Do you know how hard a campaign has to work these days to court billionaires? And now you've lost him, Scott. Hope it was worth it.

Tensions between Scott’s campaign staff and Fernandez had been building for weeks. And the last straw, according to people within the campaign who spoke with the Miami Herald this weekend, was an incident in which several of Scott’s campaign staffers allegedly began joking around in a cartoonish, over-the-top Mexican accent while on the way to a Mexican restaurant. Fernandez, who is Cuban-American, reportedly shot off an angry email to campaign leadership after word of the incident leaked out.

So it's a case where the Republican efforts to be nice to billionaires ran into conflict with the Republican base instinct to insult minorities. And what we've learned here, kids, is that racism wins over having One Billion Goddamn Dollars any day of the week.

Yes, this is probably some marginal blow to Rick Scott's re-election campaign—probably no more damaging than being Rick Scott, mind you, but a blow. But spare a thought for the billionaire, here. You're richer than snot. You're richer than snot from being in the same industry that made Rick Scott richer than snot. People genuflect to you wherever you go. As a charitable act (perhaps having something to do with wanting another goddamn tax break, perhaps not) you try to use your vast riches for the good of the Republican Party and your richer than snot buddy—only to find you can't even go to a damn Mexican restaurant without all the other people you're working with devolving into racist insults because hey, Florida Republicans.

It'd be enough to drive someone away from the Republican Party entirely, if it weren't for really wanting those tax breaks.

11:12 AM PT: A bit of a sore subject, apparently.

A telephone press conference featuring Lt. Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera was abruptly ended Monday morning after reporters kept asking about the departure of Mike Fernandez from the Gov. Rick Scott re-election campaign, rather than about the new TV commercial the campaign was launching.

I wonder what it is about liars and crooks that is so appealing to Republican Supporters?

We know now for a fact that Bush et al lied us into the war in Iraq. We also know for a fact that none of their so called, enhanced interrogation practices, aka Torture, when they broke international laws set down by the Geneva Convention, ever led to capturing or removing the al Qaeda Leaders or operatives.

We know that there were no national, nor international laws broken by President Obama, Hilarly Clinton, former president Bill Clinton, and that there were international laws broken by both Bush Presidents, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Libby rumsfeld and Gonzales, and particularly, by REAGAN, who led the most indicted administration in American History.

WE know that ISSA has wasted millions upon millions of dollars on political witch hunsts which led to absolutely no corruption, nor distortions of the events which he continues to investigate, regardless of the FACT that nothing of any corrupt nature has ever been proven, and that in fact, investigations have exonerated everyone in the Obama Administration of any wrong doing, and of any negligence of any kind.

We know that Republicans have been actively tryng to block any and all American Citizens from their right to vote.

We know that Republicans on the State And Federal Level, protect the very corrupt corporate crooks from being held to account for killing workers, and citizens with pollution, and corrupt thieves in the Banking Industry who steal from the American People, and corrupt medical practictioners in every Medical Industry, and the Farming Industry, from being held to account for their carnage against the earth and it's inhabitants.

We know that Republicans have their own propaganda media tools, who continue to offend people of conscience.

We know that after Bush and his Republican Blank Check Majority destroyed the economy, lied us into Iraq, ignored the growing threats of Russia, North Korea, Iran, and left this country in colossal debts, and the worst legacy since The Great Depression, left by yet another Republican, they then determined to take a course of total obstruction.

Why do people EVER vote for Republicans????

There can be only two answers, corporate corruption and greed in the so called, "Free Market" by many of the top one percent, AND gross ignorance of the Right, who are also the most racist, homophobic, and misogynistic in our country.

The state from which the most young girls are sold into sexual slavery, is the state of Georgia! Slavery is still alive and well in the South.
