“The story in the Southwest is the story of water,” says Greg Garfin, one of the convening lead authors of the National Climate Assessmentchapter on the region, already one of the driest parts of the United States.

Increased heat, drought, and insect outbreaks, all linked to climate change, have increased wildfires. Declining water supplies, reduced agricultural yields, and health impacts in cities due to heat will take their toll, especially in populous desert cities like Las Vegas, where water management is already a game with small margins of error. Flooding and erosion in coastal areas are additional concerns.

    My dear friend,

We are actually dealing with people in this thread who don't know the difference between rain, and acid rain. People who are pre-determined to deny 97% of Scientific agreement, around the world!

Some of the remarks in this thread are proof of the main problem we have in our country, extreme ignorance, and I do mean, extreme. The impact of the ignorant continues to be our most devastating problem in solving threats to our safety, and the future of our childrern. Ignorance holds the world back, particularly the ignorance of the RW Radical, gun slinging, Republicans.

    LOL.

What really is ignorant are people that actually believe they can stop the climate from changing.

If you actually believe that humans are the cause of climate change. The surest solution to solving the problem is reducing the human population to below 500,000,000.

    Problem solved.

There isn't anything wrong with America that liberal ideology, properly applied by government experts, can't make worse.

    mac.

We and other countries, over the last fifty-plus years, have successfully addressed the impact of pollution on the planet.

Every single time that the EPA has done so, here in America, the changes were extremely positive and successful.

Suggesting that anything related to pollution is totally pointless unless human beings stop reproducing, belies the success of programs which made a huge difference in the health of the planet, our rivers and streams, the animals which were dying before the EPA regulated emissions from automobiles, for example, and fails to recognize huge advancements in dealing with pollution, by using the EPA, to implement regulations.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that it is the duty of the EPA, to regulate for the health and good of the planet, and the living, and that is precisely what President Obama is going to promote.

The Chinese are already moving away from coal, and jobe from coal has actually been on the decline for a very long time.

The Republican Mantra that regulations are job killers, is nothing but lip service for the worst offenders, the mostt corrupt, annd the most polluting corporations around the world.

We go to have our emmissions checked, for a reason. Back when these changes successfully cut the growing hole in our Ozone, and the result was more streams, rivers, tributaries coming back to life, less acid in out rain, less acid destroying them annd the wildlife which lives in them, the automobile industry said it would destroy automobiles, they would have to stop making cars, LMAO! That is always the game they play. But, as we know, the regulations WERE successful, the car industry did not fail, and things greatly improved.

I ignore nay sayers, particularly when it becomes clear that they have not researched anything.

Is overpopulation part of the problem? YES~! Are the archaic views of the religious right, part of the problem? Yes~! Is corporate corruption part of the problem? Yes~! But, as more people lose their homes to environmental disasters, floods, fires, earthquakes caused by Fracking, cancer linked to chemicals used in Fracking, used to sink the oil the spills in the ocean, used to hide the destruction caused by the use of burning fosile fuels, our country, and other countries around the world will get on board in fighting the devastation caused by fosile fuels. That is already happening. Just like the irrational lack of gun laws, and the corruption imposed in Red STAtes, which negatively impact reasonable, law abiding citizens is coming down on the NRA as we write, has spawed public outrage, and even the NRA is releasing statements telling their members to back off with the ridiculous display of long guns in the marketplace, public outrage will bring the changes, regardless of how much baloney oozzes from the mouths of the uninformed, ignorant and uneducated, Science will convince most people. That has already happened.

AS I recall, some thought the RW TEA PARTY was going to take over the country, LMAO, and now we can readily see the divisions and back biting going on between Republicans, and we will continue to watch the party of the crazies, lose ground. Just as I predicted, the Tea Party has painted the Republican Party into a corner.

Those who have not researched Global Warming, or Climate Change, readily reveal themselves to those who have done so. As always, the ignorant must be ignored. They have never been among the progressives, nor promoted the ideas and solutions of historic gains for humanity.

Sev yes a half billion iz a good looking limit and would fix things. I am thinking that the population in say 1700 woz praps 350 million. Anyhow with a one-baby rule reducing 7billion to 3.5billion would take 3 generations, then to 1.75 another generation, then to 0.9 in another. mac.

    mac.

Mac, Making the burning of fossil fuels unaffordable is a good thing, not a bad thing. Do we want more cancer, more children born with learning disabilities, more pigs tearing down our mointain tops, destroying our environment, or do we want to continue doing those things which will kill massive numbers of people around the world?

It's not a question anymore, we have proof, that Global Warming is a threat to the world, our health, and our future on the planet. The future generations want more protection of the environment, by 70%, even Republicans want a crack down on the assault on our environment.

Repiglicans are going to find themselves out of the running, very soon. They are against everything that the majority of Americans support, from women's rights, to voting rights, to addressing the threats of global warming, to removing assault weapons from our market places where we go to shop, educate, and congregate.

Without their gerrymandering, their hidden foreign money being used to destroy the election process, and the ignorance of the radical religious idiots, Repiglicans would already be totally out of power in Government. It may take a few more years, b ut they are on their way OUT! I say, BRAVO! They have lost the majority vote in five of the last six elections, and they will lose it again!

    Thank goodness!
