Exclamation Coal Dust Is Killing the People Of Appalachain Community

    http://acheact.org/

This Is The Appalachian Community Health Emergency Campaign

The Appalachian Communities Health Emergency Act is the first law ever proposed that would end the human rights/ human health disaster that is Mountaintop Removal in Appalachia.
The New York Times called Mountaintop Removal "Appalachia's Agony." It's no wonder: communities near Mountaintop Removal sites suffer shockingly disproportionate levels of cancer, heart disease, pulmonary disease, birth defects and other physical and mental illnesses.
More than four thousand people die in West Virginia mining communities every year. Science calls these "excess deaths." We call them Husband, Wife, Grampa, Granma, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, Aunt, Uncle, Cousin.
Mountaintop Removal's horrors MUST end, and you have a vital role to play in ending it. Get your member of Congress to sign on to the A.C.H.E. Act now.
    Read the Legislationor the Summary

People unfamiliar with the day-to-day horrors of Mountaintop Removal coal extraction may wonder what all the fuss is about. This is what all the fuss is about. Watch this brief excerpt from Francine Cavenaugh and Adams Wood’s brilliant documentary “On Coal River.” Pay close attention to the segment showing the toxic dust cloud that pours down a holler and into a community: into its homes, its residents bodies, into streams and soil.
If you read the scientific reports also archived on this site, you will learn just how utterly toxic that dust is. You will learn how deadly it is. You will learn, indeed, what all the fuss is about.
Of “On Coal River,” Academy Award nominee, Golden Globe and Tony award winning actor Hugh Jackman said “”You may think you have seen this “David and Goliath” story before…but it will invoke indignation, anger, passion and most importantly make you jump out of your seat to settle this injustice!!!”
Obviously, we who deal with the horrors of Mountaintop Removal agree with Mr. Jackman’s assessment. That is why it is imperative that you do become involved. If you want to see an end to Mountaintop Removal, the A.C.H.E. Act is the way to end it. Educate yourself on the science. Understand why cancer, heart disease and birth defects stalk our ancient mountain hollers. Advocate to your elected representatives to build support for the A.C.H.E. Act.
Ultimately, if you find the goal of ending Mountaintop Removal and giving central Appalachia a fighting chance to be a worthy one, help us accomplish our work. Use our PayPal widget to establish a monthly contribution. One thousand people pledging five dollars per month will keep this campaign going, will give Appalachia that fighting chance. http://acheact.org/contact-us/suppor...p-the-a-c-h-e/

So much so that I makes me cry when I see what has happened to one off the most beautiful regions in the country.

Those beautiful mountain tops are gone. There is no bringing them back. Such a tragedy.
