Right wing vitriol is causing violence.
Records Show Nevada Shooters Thought Bundy Ranch Was Start Of Revolution
June 10, 2014
Sunday in Las Vegas, two white power supremacists, ambushed and killed two police officers on their lunch break. The suspects reportedly shouted, “This is the start of a revolution!” before opening fire. And apparently, they’ve been looking for “revolution” for quite some time — Facebook posts showthey thought Bundy ranch was the real thing.
After shooting the officers, the couple stripped the bodies of their weapons, ammunition and badges. Then draped the bodies with a cloth displaying the Gadsden flag. You know the Gadsden flag. It’s the one with the snake that says, “Don’t tread on me.” You just didn’t know that’s what it was called. You probably remember seeing it most recently as a proud background symbol at most Tea Party rallies. And that’s the point.
The suspect couple has been identified as Jerad and Amanda Miller. Far right views coupled with low information voter rage. Jerad’s Facebook page has been reviewed and reveals someone with long held anti-government beliefs coupled with violent rhetoric. A commenter on Alex Jones’ InfoWars. Quite frankly, Jerad is not unlike any number of politically active right wingers you see commenting every day. Only this time their online rant turned into real world violence.
Inside the mind of Jerad Miller.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal says the attack appears to be politically motivated. No specific information regarding a motive or additional evidence has been revealed at this time. But that Facebook page sure had some interesting quotes.
“The dawn of a new day,” Miller posted on June 7, one day before the shootings. “May all of our coming sacrifices be worth it.”Neighbors of the couple report, the man seemed militant. Always talking conspiracy theories. The couple had been heard to brag about their connection to Cliven Bundy and being present at the ranch during the stand-off with the federal government earlier this year.
“Ranch war almost under way,” he posted on April 9. “[W]e need to watch this closely, could be the next Waco and start of revolution.”Later the same day, Miller posted that he would be,
“supporting Clive Bundy and his family from Federal Government slaughter… We must do something. I will be doing something.”The couple was seen spouting anti-government rhetoric while passing out white power propaganda. They were even overheard talking about killing cops, committing a mass shooting and “doing” the next Columbine.
“We can hope for peace. We must, however, prepare for war,” Miller wrote on June 2. “To stop this oppression, I fear, can only be accomplished through bloodshed.”And that makes logical sense doesn’t it? “Peace through superior firepower.” That’s a hallmark conservative value.
On Jan. 1, 2013 Miller wrote,
“This is a declaration to all Americans. If you don’t agree with and hold dear the second amendment of the united states constitution (sic), then you need to self-deport yourself to someplace where people like you can congregate. We are already on our way to tyranny, and your corrupt evil ass needs to leave this country before you incite another civil war.”
“Your (sic) a traitor to this nation and its people who hold their rights dear to them and deserve to die a traitors death.”
Jerad Miller exercises his Constitutional rights.
After shooting two cops in the neighborhood CiCi’s Pizza, the couple ran toward the safety of their local Wal-Mart. Witnesses report the male suspect shouted, “Everyone get out!” before exchanging gunfire with another armed citizen. A regular guy, exercising his 2nd amendment rights by legally carrying a concealed weapon, was shot and killed when he attempted to thwart the ongoing crime.
Apparently a good guy with a gun doesn’t always stop a bad guy with a gun. But the spent rounds mean money for several companies. That’s our economy at work.
A second citizen, Hector Garcia, came face to face with the gunman while shopping in the arts and crafts aisle. Garcia said the gunman appeared perfectly calm as he told Hector, “Don’t run.” And, as the gunman walked toward the rear of the store, Garcia, shaken but alive, left through the front entrance.
Then, the revolution ended as quickly as it had begun. Amanda shot Jerad and then turned the gun on herself in an apparent suicide pact. However Jerad was only injured and had to shoot himself in the head to finish the ordeal. So ends the saga of Jerad and Amanda Miller.
