I have bought the blue diamond tips individually for AU$2 (US$1) and their price for 50 is AU$3, so its certainly not cheap for out here, but not particularly out of the ordinary. Billiard supply stores are a bit of a rare commodity out here so they can pretty much set prices to what they want and still sell to the ignorant. In Sydney there are probably 6 suppliers and Sydney holds about a quater of the population of Austrlia, so I suppose extrapolating that figure there might only be about two dozen suppliers in the whole country (80% seem to specialist in English billiard products rather than American equipment). Also gotta remember that everything has a fair bit of shipping charge involved cause hardly anything is made out here, apart from the odd table maker cause they are obsenely expensive to import.

I guess it is a sellers market down there. Up here those tips are about $20 for a box of 50. I figured the suppliers deal mostly with snooker and such. If there is only a couple of dozen suppliers that is thin. It appears the large cities are on the coast. It would be a long lonely drive across your country. Yes shipping would be expensive, they probably make some of that up on tip prices. Thanks for the reply.

It's not that bad as long as you know what the going rate is for things. That advert is also for a place in South Australia which is one of the more remote places in the country. In Sydney there is some resemblance to competition. I don't really mind paying $2 for a tip every 6 months when most pubs round here charge $3 per game.

I've actually got a supplier that will import pretty much anything at reasonable rates so I'm not too worried. Besides I am currently only going through about 2 tips a year, and I tend to make tools myself such as a tip shaper and tapper.

Three Dollars Per Game!!! I"d definately go back to gambling or at least the three dollars it costs. LOL How much is a beer with that game? You guys must need trucks to haul your paychecks to the bank.

Fortunately the place I frequent is the only one that charges $2 a game. However those in the know around my area don't realy need to pay for a game as there is ample free table time, just gota know where and when.

My god..3.00 a game...2.00 a game...I am upset about a dollar a game. Its almost not worth it, considering the level of play myself and friends are at.
Next thing you know, the Vally Bar Boxes will have a dollar bill slot that takes ones and fives.
