Great Southern Billiard Tour Ready to Close Out 2007 Season

The Great Southern Billiard Tour has scheduled its Tour Championship for January 24-27, 2008, at the Diamond Billiard Club in Chattanooga, Tenn. The $10,000 added (with 64 players) main event will start off with a players' meeting at 5 p.m. sharp on Thursday, Jan. 24, and a player auction to follow shortly thereafter at 6 p.m. Top names anticipated to be present include Stevie Moore, Larry Nevel, Shannon Daulton, John Brumback, Shane Van Boening, Gabe Owen and plenty more.

The matches will be played on 7-foot Diamond tables in a double-elimination bracket with matches being race-to-11. The final will be a single set race-to-15.

The field will be limited to 128 players and entry fees will vary based on tour membership. Members will pay $100 (includes $20 registration fee) and non-members will pay $200 (includes $20 registration fee).

Payout with 128-player field:
1st: $5000
2nd: $2500
3rd: $1600
4th: $1100
5th/6th: $550 each
7th/8th: $400 each
9th-12th: $300 each
13th-16th: $235 each
17h-24th: $150 each
25th-32nd: $100 each

In addition to the main event, the venue will also host a 9-Ball Bank Ring Game and 10-Ball Ring Game. The field is filling up quickly, so get your name in the hat pronto - specifics for the two events are as follows:

The 9-Ball Bank Ring Game is $1000 entry, to be held on 9-foot Diamond Pro tables. Play will begin Friday, Jan. 25, at 8 p.m.

The 10-Ball Ring Game is also $1000 entry on 9-foot Diamond Pro tables. This game will begin on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 8 p.m. Both the ring games will payback 100 percent of the prize pool.

For the insomniac pool players and sweators, the venue will remain open 24 hours during the event. Spectators can purchase daily passes for $10 per day or $30 for the entire tournament.

If you are heading in from out of town, two sponsor hotels have signed on for the event. The Comfort Inn (4833 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, Tenn., 423-877-8388) and the Holiday Inn (4820 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, Tenn., 423-877-6464) are offering discounted rates ($63 per night) to players and spectators. The code for special rate is “Diamond Billiard Club Pool Tournament." Please make your room reservations as soon as possible as there is also a cheerleading competition in town the same weekend.
