Sep 26, 2006, 6:13 PM

On day two of the U.S. Open in Chesapeake, Va., several problems occurred in match scheduling. Three forfeits occurred in the matches scheduled for 11 a.m. Gabe Owen was given the gift of advancement in a forfeit by Larry Nevel, as were CJ Wiley and Robert Lewis.

As 1 p.m. rolled around, three matches were still going from the first round, and some of the later rounds had more matches scheduled then there were tables available.

Despite the problems, several exciting matches have gone off. Earl Strickland gave his opponent Edmund Ambros a humbling first-round experience, shutting him out, 11-0. John Schmidt sent Tony T-Rex Chohan stomping off to the one-loss side, and Jeremy Jones beat Antonio Gabica, 11-4.

Other top players advancing with round one wins include Kim Davenport, Charlie Bryant, Tony Robles, Charlie Williams, Shannon Daulton, Scott Frost, Mika Immonen, Alex Pagulayan, Corey Deuel, Johnny Archer, Ronnie Alcano, Jose Parica, Raj Hundal, and Rodney Morris.
