Feb 5, 2007, 9:48 AM

The big guns came out for the Pechauer Gulf Coast Classic at Capone's Billiards in Spring Hill, Fla. on Jan. 27-29. A total of 32 players competed for $2,150 in prize money. Early favorites in this one were 'Rocket' Rodney Morris, Tommy Kennedy and Tony Crosby.

Morris kept an unblemished record all day Saturday and Sunday, defeating Donnie Mills, 9-5, for the hot-seat. On the one-loss side, Tony Crosby eliminated recent Reno Open winner Rich Orem, 9-7.

The semifinal saw Donnie Mills earn a tough 9-7 win over Crosby to set up a rematch between Mills and Morris in the finals.

The final match was also a close one, but Morris took it 11-9 for the tournament win.

Morris earned $700 for first place, while Mills took home $440 for second. Gail Grecar was the top female finisher and earned $50. Mitch Bredlove and Monty Cooper split the $50 bonus for top junior finisher.
