Robles Unveils Predator 9-Ball Tour Feb 5, 2008, 3:39 PM
| | A new player in the pool scene in the New York tri-state area debuted over the weekend. The Predator 9-Ball Tour kicked off its first season Feb. 2-3 at Raxx Pool Room in Hempstead, N.Y.
Long-time professional Tony Robles created the tour to bolster the opportunities for players in the region.
"My goal in starting this new tour was to provide more tournaments for players around our area to compete in highly skilled events to boost the sport of pool,” Robles said. “I want to help keep the sport alive and thriving in New York."
The tour's first stop featured $1,000 in guaranteed added money and attracted a field of 75 players, including international stars like Finland's Mika Immonen and Thorsten Hohmann of Germany.
This event, however, was won by New Jersey's Joey Testa, who made a run through the left side for the win.
Testa, who delivered a 9-1 beating to Hohmann in the fourth-place match, met Immonen in the final. Testa won a hill-hill match against the former world champion, running the final rack for the win.
